2008-12-30powerpc: Add device tree bindings for BCSR GPIO banksAnton Vorontsov
The patch adds bindings for BCSR GPIO banks, the bindings are used to describe particular BCSR registers that act as simple GPIO controllers. These GPIO banks might control power switches, SPI chip-selects, LEDs, etc. While at it, also fix "length" spelling error in the PIXIS FPGA bindings. 2008-12-16gianfar: Convert gianfar to an of_platform_driverAndy Fleming
Does the same for the accompanying MDIO driver, and then modifies the TBI configuration method. The old way used fields in einfo, which no longer exists. The new way is to create an MDIO device-tree node for each instance of gianfar, and create a tbi-handle property to associate ethernet controllers with the TBI PHYs they are connected to. 2008-11-10powerpc: Repair device bindings documentationTrent Piepho
Commit d0fc2eaaf4c56a95f5ed29b6bfb609e19714fc16 "powerpc/fsl: Refactor device bindings" split out a number of device bindings from booting-without-of.txt into separate files. Having them all in one file was a frequent source of merge conflicts. However, in the next merge, 49997d75152b3d23c53b0fa730599f2f74c92c65, there was another conflict. Some of the bindings removed from booting-without-of.txt were mistakenly added back in and the copies in dts-bindings were kept as well. This patch re-removes "Freescale Display Interface" and "Freescale on board FPGA" and fixes the table of contents. 2008-10-20powerpc: Remove device_type = "board_control" properties in .dts filesAnton Vorontsov
We don't want to encourage the bogus device_type usage. The device type isn't used in the code, so we can simply remove it from the documentation and dts files. Boards should specify proper compatible entries instead. 2008-10-13powerpc: document the "fsl,ssi-dma-channel" compatible propertyTimur Tabi
The "fsl,ssi-dma-channel" compatible property is used to specify a DMA channel on the Freescale Elo DMA controller that should be used exclusively by the Freescale SSI audio controller. When a property is marked as such, the Elo DMA driver will ignore it, and so it will be available for the sound drivers. 2008-10-13powerpc: 83xx: pci: Remove need for get_immrbase from mpc83xx_add_bridge.John Rigby
Modify mpc83xx_add_bridge to get config space register base address from the device tree instead of immr + hardcoded offset. 83xx pci nodes have this change: register properties now contain two address length tuples: First is the pci bridge register base, this has always been there. Second is the config base, this is new. This is documented in dts-bindings/fsl/83xx-512x-pci.txt The changes accomplish these things: mpc83xx_add_bridge no longer needs to call get_immrbase it uses hard coded addresses if the second register value is missing Signed-off-by: John Rigby <jrigby@freescale.com> Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>

2008-09-17powerpc: add SSI-to-DMA properties to Freescale MPC8610 HPCD device treeTimur Tabi
Add the fsl,playback-dma and fsl,capture-dma properties to the Freescale MPC8610 HPCD device tree. These properties connect the SSI nodes to the DMA nodes for the DMA channels that the SSI should use. Also update the ssi.txt documentation. 2008-08-04powerpc: Move include files to arch/powerpc/include/asmStephen Rothwell
from include/asm-powerpc. This is the result of a mkdir arch/powerpc/include/asm git mv include/asm-powerpc/* arch/powerpc/include/asm Followed by a few documentation/comment fixups and a couple of places where <asm-powepc/...> was being used explicitly. 2008-07-28Documentation: remove old sbc8260 board specific informationPaul Gortmaker
This file contains 8 yr. old board specific information that was for the now gone ppc implementation, and it pre-dates widespread u-boot support. Any of the technical details of the board memory map would be more appropriately captured in a dts if I revive it as powerpc anyway. 2008-07-28cpm_uart: Modem control lines supportLaurent Pinchart
This patch replaces the get_mctrl/set_mctrl stubs with modem control line read/write access through the GPIO lib. Available modem control lines are described in the device tree using GPIO bindings. The driver expect a GPIO pin for each of the CTS, RTS, DCD, DSR, DTR and RI signals. Unused control lines can be left out. 2008-06-10powerpc/sysdev: implement FSL GTM supportAnton Vorontsov
GTM stands for General-purpose Timers Module and able to generate timer{1,2,3,4} interrupts. These timers are used by the drivers that need time precise interrupts (like for USB transactions scheduling for the Freescale USB Host controller as found in some QE and CPM chips), or these timers could be used as wakeup events from the CPU deep-sleep mode. Things unimplemented: 1. Cascaded (32 bit) timers (1-2, 3-4). This is straightforward to implement when needed, two timers should be marked as "requested" and configured as appropriate. 2. Super-cascaded (64 bit) timers (1-2-3-4). This is also straightforward to implement when needed, all timers should be marked as "requested" and configured as appropriate. The following features are supported: plane 0 works as a regular frame buffer, can be accessed by /dev/fb0 plane 1 has two AOIs (area of interest), can be accessed by /dev/fb1 and /dev/fb2 plane 2 has two AOIs, can be accessed by /dev/fb3 and /dev/fb4 Special ioctls support AOIs All /dev/fb* can be used as regular frame buffer devices, except hardware change can only be made through /dev/fb0. Changing pixel clock has no effect on other fbs. Limitation of usage of AOIs: AOIs on the same plane can not be horizonally overlapped AOIs have horizonal order, i.e. AOI0 should be always on top of AOI1 AOIs can not beyond phisical display area. Application should check AOI geometry before changing physical resolution on /dev/fb0 required command line parameters to preallocate memory for frame buffer diufb. optional command line parameters to set modes and monitor video=fslfb:[resolution][,bpp][,monitor] Syntax: Resolution xres x yres-bpp@refresh_rate, the -bpp and @refresh_rate are optional eg, 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1280x1024-32, 1280x1024@60, 1280x1024-32@60, 1280x480-32@60 Bpp bpp=32, bpp=24, or bpp=16 Monitor monitor=0, monitor=1, monitor=2 0 is DVI 1 is Single link LVDS 2 is Double link LVDS Note: switching monitor is a board feather, not DIU feather. MPC8610HPCD has three monitor ports to swtich to. MPC5121ADS doesn't have additional monitor port. So switching monirot port for MPC5121ADS has no effect. 2008-03-26[POWERPC] Start removing linux,network-index in favour of aliasesDavid Gibson
This patch alters the bootwrapper for a number of machines (roubhly all 4xx based cuboot or treeboot platforms) to use aliases instead of the linux,network-index hack to work out which MAC address to attach to which ethernet device node. The now obsolete linux,network-index properties are removed from the corresponding device trees. This won't break backwards compatiblity, because in cases where this fixup code is relevant, the device tree is part of the kernel image. The references to linux,network-index are removed from booting-without-of.txt. Not only is it now deprecated, but as a hack applicable only when the device tree blob and fixup code were in the same image, this property never belonged in booting-without-of.txt which describes the interface between the kernel and firmware or bootloaders which produce a device tree. By the time the device tree reaches the kernel, all the MAC addresses must be fully filled in.
