2008-08-27[ARM] use bcd2bin/bin2bcdAdrian Bunk
This patch changes arm to use the new bcd2bin/bin2bcd functions instead of the obsolete BCD_TO_BIN/BIN_TO_BCD macros. Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-08-09[ARM] CATS: Do not try and map bad PCI IRQ numbersBen Dooks
The cats_map_irq() function in the Simtec CATS support code is mapping IRQ 255 (invalid IRQ) into what is a supposedly valid interrupt numner which can cause problems with other devices then seeing an interrupt they cannot claim. If the IRQ number if >= 255, then return -1 as this is not something we can map. Signed-off-by: Ben Dooks <ben-linux@fluff.org>
2008-08-07[ARM] Move include/asm-arm/arch-* to arch/arm/*/include/machRussell King
This just leaves include/asm-arm/plat-* to deal with. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-08-07[ARM] Remove asm/hardware.h, use asm/arch/hardware.h insteadRussell King
Remove includes of asm/hardware.h in addition to asm/arch/hardware.h. Then, since asm/hardware.h only exists to include asm/arch/hardware.h, update everything to directly include asm/arch/hardware.h and remove asm/hardware.h. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-05-02[ARM] 5015/1: arm: remove ARCH_CO285Adrian Bunk
Trying to compile a kerel for ARCH_CO285 fails with the following error: <-- snip --> ... CC arch/arm/mach-footbridge/dc21285.o /home/bunk/linux/kernel-2.6/git/linux-2.6/arch/arm/mach-footbridge/dc21285.c: In function 'dc21285_base_address': /home/bunk/linux/kernel-2.6/git/linux-2.6/arch/arm/mach-footbridge/dc21285.c:54: error: 'PCICFG0_BASE' undeclared (first use in this function) /home/bunk/linux/kernel-2.6/git/linux-2.6/arch/arm/mach-footbridge/dc21285.c:54: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once /home/bunk/linux/kernel-2.6/git/linux-2.6/arch/arm/mach-footbridge/dc21285.c:54: error: for each function it appears in.) /home/bunk/linux/kernel-2.6/git/linux-2.6/arch/arm/mach-footbridge/dc21285.c:57: error: 'PCICFG1_BASE' undeclared (first use in this function) /home/bunk/linux/kernel-2.6/git/linux-2.6/arch/arm/mach-footbridge/dc21285.c: In function 'dc21285_scan_bus': /home/bunk/linux/kernel-2.6/git/linux-2.6/arch/arm/mach-footbridge/dc21285.c:286: error: implicit declaration of function 'pci_scan_bus' ... make[2]: *** [arch/arm/mach-footbridge/dc21285.o] Error 1 <-- snip --> This does not seem to be a recent breakage. The ARCH_CO285 support is old - kernel 2.2.0 contains first traces of it, an it seems to have been pretty complete in later 2.2 kernels. Since it seems to be completely dead code now this patch therefore removes it. Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2008-01-28[ARM] Fix timer damage from d3d74453c34f8fd87674a8cf5b8a327c68f22e99Russell King
Move the xtime write mode seqlock into timer_tick(), so it only surrounds the call to do_timer(). This avoids a deadlock in update_process_times() ... hrtimer_get_softirq_time() which tries to get a read mode seqlock on xtime, thereby preventing booting. 2007-10-12[ARM] Add rtc-cmos driver for ISA-based footbridge platformsRussell King
... but the rtc-cmos is rather broken; if PNP is enabled, it assumes that we have ACPI (!) which is quite bogus on these platforms - which may have ISAPNP but not ACPI. Something to be solved in the future. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

2007-04-21[ARM] Remove needless linux/ptrace.h includesRussell King
Lots of places in arch/arm were needlessly including linux/ptrace.h, resumably because we used to pass a struct pt_regs to interrupt handlers. Now that we don't, all these ptrace.h includes are redundant. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2006-11-30[ARM] Remove compatibility layer for ARM irqsRussell King

2006-10-15[ARM] Fix fallout from IRQ regs changesRussell King
Some ARM platforms were still broken as a result of the IRQ register passing changes, mostly due to a missing linux/irq.h include. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2006-10-06Initial blind fixup for arm for irq changesLinus Torvalds
Untested, but this should fix up the bulk of the totally mechanical issues, and should make the actual detail fixing easier. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2006-09-20[ARM] 3759/2: Remove uses of %?Daniel Jacobowitz
Patch from Daniel Jacobowitz The ARM kernel has several uses of asm("foo%?"). %? is a GCC internal modifier used to output conditional execution predicates. However, no version of GCC supports conditionalizing asm statements. GCC 4.2 will correctly expand %? to the empty string in user asms. Earlier versions may reuse the condition from the previous instruction. In 'if (foo) asm ("bar%?");' this is somewhat likely to be right... but not reliable. So, the only safe thing to do is to remove the uses of %?. I believe the tlbflush.h occurances were supposed to be removed before, based on the comment about %? not working at the top of that file. Old versions of GCC could omit branches around user asms if the asm didn't mark the condition codes as clobbered. This problem hasn't been seen on any recent (3.x or 4.x) GCC, but it could theoretically happen. So, where %? was removed a cc clobber was added. 2006-07-03[ARM] Fix ISA IRQ resourcesRussell King
The ISA IRQ code was not using named initialisers, so merging the 64-bit resource code (which re-ordered the struct members) broke this. Fix it up to use named initialisers. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2006-07-02[PATCH] ARM: fixup irqflags breakage after ARM genirq mergeThomas Gleixner
The irgflags consolidation did conflict with the ARM to generic IRQ conversion and was not applied for ARM. Fix it up. Use the new IRQF_ constants and remove the SA_INTERRUPT define Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

2006-01-13[ARM] 3260/1: remove phys_ram from struct machine_desc (part 2)Nicolas Pitre

2006-01-03[ARM] Cleanup ARM includesRussell King
arch/arm/kernel/entry-armv.S has contained a comment suggesting that asm/hardware.h and asm/arch/irqs.h should be moved into the asm/arch/entry-macro.S include. So move the includes to these two files as required. Add missing includes (asm/hardware.h, asm/io.h) to asm/arch/system.h includes which use those facilities, and remove asm/io.h from kernel/process.c. Remove other unnecessary includes from arch/arm/kernel, arch/arm/mm and arch/arm/mach-footbridge. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

2005-09-08[SERIAL] Use an enum for serial8250 platform device IDsRussell King
Rather than hard-coding the platform device IDs, enumerate them. We don't particularly care about the actual ID we get, just as long as they're unique. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-09-07[PATCH] Kconfig fix (BLK_DEV_FD dependencies)viro@ZenIV.linux.org.uk
Sanitized and fixed floppy dependencies: split the messy dependencies for BLK_DEV_FD by introducing a new symbol (ARCH_MAY_HAVE_PC_FDC), making BLK_DEV_FD depend on that one and taking declarations of ARCH_MAY_HAVE_PC_FDC to arch/*/Kconfig. While we are at it, fixed several obvious cases when BLK_DEV_FD should have been excluded (architectures lacking asm/floppy.h are *not* going to have floppy.c compile, let alone work). If you can come up with better name for that ("this architecture might have working PC-compatible floppy disk controller"), you are more than welcome - just s/ARCH_MAY_HAVE_PC_FDC/your_prefered_name/g in the patch below... 2005-09-04[ARM] Wrap calls to descriptor handlersRussell King
This is part of Thomas Gleixner's generic IRQ patch, which converts ARM to use the generic IRQ subsystem. Here, we wrap calls to desc->handler() in an inline function, desc_handle_irq(). This reduces the size of Thomas' patch since the changes become more localised. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-07-03[PATCH] ARM: Remove machine description macrosRussell King
Remove the pointless machine description macros, favouring C99 initialisers instead. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-06-26[PATCH] ARM: Add SA_TIMER flag to timer interruptsRussell King

2005-05-05[PATCH] ARM: select PCI, ISA and ISA_DMARussell King
Rather than using a long "depends on..." and "default y" lines for these options, use select instead. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-04-17[PATCH] ARM: footbridge rtc initRussell King
The footbridge ISA RTC was being initialised before we had setup the kernel timer. This caused a divide by zero error when the current time of day is set. Resolve this by initialising the RTC after the kernel timer has been initialised. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk@arm.linux.org.uk>
2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
