2008-10-14m68k: Reverse platform MMU logic so Sun 3 is lastGeert Uytterhoeven
Currently Sun 3 support is the first platform option, as the Sun 3 MMU is incompatible with standard Motorola MMUs. However, this means that `allmodconfig' enables support for Sun 3, and thus disables support for all other platforms. Reverse the logic and move Sun 3 last, so `allmodconfig' enables all platforms except for Sun 3, increasing compile-coverage. 2008-09-06Introduce HAVE_AOUT symbol to remove hard-coded arch list for BINFMT_AOUTDavid Woodhouse
HAVE_AOUT doesn't quite do the same thing as the recently removed ARCH_SUPPORTS_AOUT config option. That was set even on platforms where binfmt_aout isn't supported, although it's not entirely clear why. So it's best just to introduce a new symbol, handled consistently with other similar HAVE_xxx symbols; with a simple 'select' in the arch Kconfig. 2008-07-24PAGE_ALIGN(): correctly handle 64-bit values on 32-bit architecturesAndrea Righi
On 32-bit architectures PAGE_ALIGN() truncates 64-bit values to the 32-bit boundary. For example: u64 val = PAGE_ALIGN(size); always returns a value < 4GB even if size is greater than 4GB. The problem resides in PAGE_MASK definition (from include/asm-x86/page.h for example): #define PAGE_SHIFT 12 #define PAGE_SIZE (_AC(1,UL) << PAGE_SHIFT) #define PAGE_MASK (~(PAGE_SIZE-1)) ... #define PAGE_ALIGN(addr) (((addr)+PAGE_SIZE-1)&PAGE_MASK) The "~" is performed on a 32-bit value, so everything in "and" with PAGE_MASK greater than 4GB will be truncated to the 32-bit boundary. Using the ALIGN() macro seems to be the right way, because it uses typeof(addr) for the mask. Also move the PAGE_ALIGN() definitions out of include/asm-*/page.h in include/linux/mm.h. 2008-07-24mm: drop unneeded pgdat argument from free_area_init_node()Johannes Weiner
free_area_init_node() gets passed in the node id as well as the node descriptor. This is redundant as the function can trivially get the node descriptor itself by means of NODE_DATA() and the node's id. I checked all the users and NODE_DATA() seems to be usable everywhere from where this function is called. Fix 68040 bus fault handling, so the standard kernel exception handling can be used for i/o probing. Contrary to normal access faults there is nothing to fix, but at least we have to disable writebacks to avoid recursive faults.
