2009-06-24MIPS: Build fix - include <linux/smp.h> into all smp_processor_id() users.Ralf Baechle

2008-12-13cpumask: centralize cpu_online_map and cpu_possible_mapRusty Russell
Impact: cleanup Each SMP arch defines these themselves. Move them to a central location. Twists: 1) Some archs (m32, parisc, s390) set possible_map to all 1, so we add a CONFIG_INIT_ALL_POSSIBLE for this rather than break them. 2) mips and sparc32 '#define cpu_possible_map phys_cpu_present_map'. Those archs simply have phys_cpu_present_map replaced everywhere. 3) Alpha defined cpu_possible_map to cpu_present_map; this is tricky so I just manipulate them both in sync. 4) IA64, cris and m32r have gratuitous 'extern cpumask_t cpu_possible_map' declarations. 2008-06-27PCI: remove unused arch pcibios_update_resource() functionsAdrian Bunk
Russell King did the following back in 2003: <-- snip --> [PCI] pci-9: Kill per-architecture pcibios_update_resource() Kill pcibios_update_resource(), replacing it with pci_update_resource(). pci_update_resource() uses pcibios_resource_to_bus() to convert a resource to a device BAR - the transformation should be exactly the same as the transformation used for the PCI bridges. pci_update_resource "knows" about 64-bit BARs, but doesn't attempt to set the high 32-bits to anything non-zero - currently no architecture attempts to do something different. If anyone cares, please fix; I'm going to reflect current behaviour for the time being. Ivan pointed out the following architectures need to examine their pcibios_update_resource() implementation - they should make sure that this new implementation does the right thing. #warning's have been added where appropriate. ia64 mips mips64 This cset also includes a fix for the problem reported by AKPM where 64-bit arch compilers complain about the resource mask being placed in a u32. <-- snip --> This patch removes the unused pcibios_update_resource() functions the kernel gained since, from FRV, m68k, mips & sh architectures. 2007-10-11[MIPS] Switch from to_tm to rtc_time_to_tmRalf Baechle

2007-02-06[MIPS] Define MIPS_CPU_IRQ_BASE in generic headerAtsushi Nemoto
The irq_base for {mips,rm7k,rm9k}_cpu_irq_init() are constant on all platforms and are same value on most platforms (0 or 16, depends on CONFIG_I8259). Define them in asm-mips/mach-generic/irq.h and make them customizable. This will save a few cycle on each CPU interrupt. A good side effect is removing some dependencies to MALTA in generic SMTC code. Although MIPS_CPU_IRQ_BASE is customizable, this patch changes irq mappings on DDB5477, EMMA2RH and MIPS_SIM, since really customizing them might cause some header dependency problem and there seems no good reason to customize it. So currently only VR41XX is using custom MIPS_CPU_IRQ_BASE value, which is 0 regardless of CONFIG_I8259. Testing this patch on those platforms is greatly appreciated. Thank you. (no argument needed, __init tag) * simplify c0_hpt_timer_init. (no need to write to c0_count) * remove some hpt_init routines. * mips_hpt_mask variable to specify bitmask of hpt value. * convert jmr3927_do_gettimeoffset to jmr3927_hpt_read. * convert ip27_do_gettimeoffset to ip27_hpt_read. * convert bcm1480_do_gettimeoffset to bcm1480_hpt_read. * simplify sb1250 hpt functions. Historically plat_mem_setup did the entire platform initialization. This was rather impractical because it meant plat_mem_setup had to get away without any kind of memory allocator. Saves like 1,600 lines of code, is way easier to debug, compilers frequently do a better job than the cut and paste type of handlers many boards had. And finally having all the stuff done in a single place also means alot of bug potencial for the MT ASE is gone. 2006-02-27[MIPS] SMP: Fix initialization order bug.Ralf Baechle
A recent change requires cpu_possible_map to be initialized before smp_sched_init() but most MIPS platforms were initializing their processors in the prom_prepare_cpus callback of smp_prepare_cpus. The simple fix of calling prom_prepare_cpus from one of the earlier SMP initialization hooks doesn't work well either since IPIs may require init_IRQ() to have completed, so bit the bullet and split prom_prepare_cpus into two initialization functions, plat_smp_setup which is called early from setup_arch and plat_prepare_cpus called where prom_prepare_cpus used to be called.
