2008-06-27PCI: remove unused arch pcibios_update_resource() functionsAdrian Bunk
Russell King did the following back in 2003: <-- snip --> [PCI] pci-9: Kill per-architecture pcibios_update_resource() Kill pcibios_update_resource(), replacing it with pci_update_resource(). pci_update_resource() uses pcibios_resource_to_bus() to convert a resource to a device BAR - the transformation should be exactly the same as the transformation used for the PCI bridges. pci_update_resource "knows" about 64-bit BARs, but doesn't attempt to set the high 32-bits to anything non-zero - currently no architecture attempts to do something different. If anyone cares, please fix; I'm going to reflect current behaviour for the time being. Ivan pointed out the following architectures need to examine their pcibios_update_resource() implementation - they should make sure that this new implementation does the right thing. #warning's have been added where appropriate. ia64 mips mips64 This cset also includes a fix for the problem reported by AKPM where 64-bit arch compilers complain about the resource mask being placed in a u32. <-- snip --> This patch removes the unused pcibios_update_resource() functions the kernel gained since, from FRV, m68k, mips & sh architectures. 2007-05-07serial driver PMC MSP71xxMarc St-Jean
Serial driver patch for the PMC-Sierra MSP71xx devices. There are three different fixes: 1 Fix for DesignWare APB THRE errata: In brief, this is a non-standard 16550 in that the THRE interrupt will not re-assert itself simply by disabling and re-enabling the THRI bit in the IER, it is only re-enabled if a character is actually sent out. It appears that the "8250-uart-backup-timer.patch" in the "mm" tree also fixes it so we have dropped our initial workaround. This patch now needs to be applied on top of that "mm" patch. 2 Fix for Busy Detect on LCR write: The DesignWare APB UART has a feature which causes a new Busy Detect interrupt to be generated if it's busy when the LCR is written. This fix saves the value of the LCR and rewrites it after clearing the interrupt. 3 Workaround for interrupt/data concurrency issue: The SoC needs to ensure that writes that can cause interrupts to be cleared reach the UART before returning from the ISR. This fix reads a non-destructive register on the UART so the read transaction completion ensures the previously queued write transaction has also completed. 2007-02-06[MIPS] Define MIPS_CPU_IRQ_BASE in generic headerAtsushi Nemoto
The irq_base for {mips,rm7k,rm9k}_cpu_irq_init() are constant on all platforms and are same value on most platforms (0 or 16, depends on CONFIG_I8259). Define them in asm-mips/mach-generic/irq.h and make them customizable. This will save a few cycle on each CPU interrupt. A good side effect is removing some dependencies to MALTA in generic SMTC code. Although MIPS_CPU_IRQ_BASE is customizable, this patch changes irq mappings on DDB5477, EMMA2RH and MIPS_SIM, since really customizing them might cause some header dependency problem and there seems no good reason to customize it. So currently only VR41XX is using custom MIPS_CPU_IRQ_BASE value, which is 0 regardless of CONFIG_I8259. Testing this patch on those platforms is greatly appreciated. Thank you. 2006-10-31[MIPS] Fixup migration to GENERIC_TIMEAtsushi Nemoto
Since we already moved to GENERIC_TIME, we should implement alternatives of old do_gettimeoffset routines to get sub-jiffies resolution from gettimeofday(). This patch includes: * MIPS clocksource support (based on works by Manish Lachwani). * remove unused gettimeoffset routines and related codes. * remove unised 64bit do_div64_32(). * simplify mips_hpt_init. (no argument needed, __init tag) * simplify c0_hpt_timer_init. (no need to write to c0_count) * remove some hpt_init routines. * mips_hpt_mask variable to specify bitmask of hpt value. * convert jmr3927_do_gettimeoffset to jmr3927_hpt_read. * convert ip27_do_gettimeoffset to ip27_hpt_read. * convert bcm1480_do_gettimeoffset to bcm1480_hpt_read. * simplify sb1250 hpt functions. 2006-06-19[MIPS] Cleanup memory managment initialization.Ralf Baechle
Historically plat_mem_setup did the entire platform initialization. This was rather impractical because it meant plat_mem_setup had to get away without any kind of memory allocator. To keep old code from breaking plat_setup was just renamed to plat_setup and a second platform initialization hook for anything else was introduced. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org>
2006-04-19[MIPS] Rewrite all the assembler interrupt handlers to C.Ralf Baechle
Saves like 1,600 lines of code, is way easier to debug, compilers frequently do a better job than the cut and paste type of handlers many boards had. And finally having all the stuff done in a single place also means alot of bug potencial for the MT ASE is gone. The only surviving handler in assembler is the DECstation one; I hope Maciej will rewrite it. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org>
