2005-09-29[PATCH] ppc32 ld.script fix for building on ppc64Al Viro
In arch/ppc/boot/ld.script we need OUTPUT_ARCH(powerpc:common) for the same reasons why we need it in vmlinux.lds.S; when we build on ppc64 box, we need to be explicit about the target. See http://linus.bkbits.net:8080/linux-2.5/cset@1.1784.8.10 for the corresponding fix in vmlinux.lds.S. 2005-06-21[PATCH] ppc32: Kill embedded system.map, use kallsymsBenjamin Herrenschmidt
This patch kills the whole embedded System.map mecanism and the bootloader-passed System.map that was used to provide symbol resolution in xmon. Instead, xmon now uses kallsyms like ppc64 does. No hurry getting that in Linus tree, let it be tested in -mm for a while first and make sure it doesn't break various embedded configs. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
