2006-06-27[PATCH] cpu hotplug: revert initdata patch submitted for 2.6.17Chandra Seetharaman
This patch reverts notifier_block changes made in 2.6.17 Signed-off-by: Chandra Seetharaman <sekharan@us.ibm.com> Cc: Ashok Raj <ashok.raj@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2006-04-26[PATCH] Remove __devinitdata from notifier block definitionsChandra Seetharaman
Few of the notifier_chain_register() callers use __devinitdata in the definition of notifier_block data structure. It is incorrect as the data structure should be available after the initializations (they do not unregister them during initializations). This was leading to an oops when notifier_chain_register() call is invoked for those callback chains after initialization. This patch fixes all such usages to _not_ have the notifier_block data structure in the init data section. 2006-03-24[PATCH] s390: kzalloc() conversion in arch/s390Eric Sesterhenn
Convert all kmalloc + memset sequences in arch/s390 to kzalloc usage. Signed-off-by: Eric Sesterhenn <snakebyte@gmx.de> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2006-01-06[PATCH] s390: cleanup KconfigMartin Schwidefsky
Sanitize some s390 Kconfig options. We have ARCH_S390, ARCH_S390X, ARCH_S390_31, 64BIT, S390_SUPPORT and COMPAT. Replace these 6 options by S390, 64BIT and COMPAT. 2006-01-06[PATCH] s390: cputime_t fixesMartin Schwidefsky
There are some more places where the use of cputime_t instead of an integer type and the associated macros is necessary for the virtual cputime accounting on s390. Affected are the s390 specific appldata code and BSD process accounting. 2005-11-08[PATCH] Fix sysctl unregistration oops (CVE-2005-2709)Al Viro
You could open the /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/<if>/<whatever> file, then wait for interface to go away, try to grab as much memory as possible in hope to hit the (kfreed) ctl_table. Then fill it with pointers to your function. Then do read from file you've opened and if you are lucky, you'll get it called as ->proc_handler() in kernel mode. So this is at least an Oops and possibly more. It does depend on an interface going away though, so less of a security risk than it would otherwise be. 2005-07-29[PATCH] s390: fix inline assembly in appldataGerald Schaefer
Fix inline assembly that gets miscompiled by gcc 4. Signed-off-by: Gerald Schaefer <geraldsc@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2005-06-04[PATCH] s390: deadlock in appldataGerald Schaefer
The system might hang when using appldata_mem with high I/O traffic and a large number of devices. The spinlocks bdev_lock and swaplock are acquired via calls to si_meminfo() and si_swapinfo() from a tasklet, i.e. interrupt context, which can lead to a deadlock. Replace tasklet with work queue. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
