2006-06-29[PATCH] genirq: rename desc->handler to desc->chipIngo Molnar
This patch-queue improves the generic IRQ layer to be truly generic, by adding various abstractions and features to it, without impacting existing functionality. While the queue can be best described as "fix and improve everything in the generic IRQ layer that we could think of", and thus it consists of many smaller features and lots of cleanups, the one feature that stands out most is the new 'irq chip' abstraction. The irq-chip abstraction is about describing and coding and IRQ controller driver by mapping its raw hardware capabilities [and quirks, if needed] in a straightforward way, without having to think about "IRQ flow" (level/edge/etc.) type of details. This stands in contrast with the current 'irq-type' model of genirq architectures, which 'mixes' raw hardware capabilities with 'flow' details. The patchset supports both types of irq controller designs at once, and converts i386 and x86_64 to the new irq-chip design. As a bonus side-effect of the irq-chip approach, chained interrupt controllers (master/slave PIC constructs, etc.) are now supported by design as well. The end result of this patchset intends to be simpler architecture-level code and more consolidation between architectures. We reused many bits of code and many concepts from Russell King's ARM IRQ layer, the merging of which was one of the motivations for this patchset. This patch: rename desc->handler to desc->chip. Originally i did not want to do this, because it's a big patch. But having both "desc->handler", "desc->handle_irq" and "action->handler" caused a large degree of confusion and made the code appear alot less clean than it truly is. I have also attempted a dual approach as well by introducing a desc->chip alias - but that just wasnt robust enough and broke frequently. So lets get over with this quickly. The conversion was done automatically via scripts and converts all the code in the kernel. This renaming patch is the first one amongst the patches, so that the remaining patches can stay flexible and can be merged and split up without having some big monolithic patch act as a merge barrier. 2006-06-26[PATCH] x86_64: x86_86 msi miss one entry handlerbibo,mao
In x86_64 architecture, if device driver with msi function gets 0xee vector by assign_irq_vector() function, system will crash if this interrupt happens. It is because 0xee interrupt entry is empty. This patch modifies this. This patch is based on 2.6.17-rc6. Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

2006-01-11[PATCH] x86_64: Remove useless KDB vectorAndi Kleen
It was set as an NMI, but the NMI bit always forces an interrupt to end up at vector 2. So it was never used. Remove. Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

2005-11-14[PATCH] x86_64: Support for AMD specific MCE Threshold.Jacob Shin
MC4_MISC - DRAM Errors Threshold Register realized under AMD K8 Rev F. This register is used to count correctable and uncorrectable ECC errors that occur during DRAM read operations. The user may interface through sysfs files in order to change the threshold configuration. bank%d/error_count - reads current error count, write to clear. bank%d/interrupt_enable - set/clear interrupt enable. bank%d/threshold_limit - read/write the threshold limit. APIC vector 0xF9 in hw_irq.h. 5 software defined bank ids in mce.h. new apic.c function to setup threshold apic lvt. defaults to interrupt off, count enabled, and threshold limit max. sysfs interface created on /sys/devices/system/threshold. 2005-10-30[PATCH] introduce setup_timer() helperOleg Nesterov
Every user of init_timer() also needs to initialize ->function and ->data fields. This patch adds a simple setup_timer() helper for that. The schedule_timeout() is patched as an example of usage. 2005-09-12[PATCH] x86-64: Make remote TLB flush more scalableAndi Kleen
Instead of using a global spinlock to protect the state of the remote TLB flush use a lock and state for each sending CPU. To tell the receiver where to look for the state use 8 different call vectors. Each CPU uses a specific vector to trigger flushes on other CPUs. Depending on the received vector the target CPUs look into the right per cpu variable for the flush data. When the system has more than 8 CPUs they are hashed to the 8 available vectors. The limited global vector space forces us to this right now. In future when interrupts are split into per CPU domains this could be fixed, at the cost of needing more IPIs in flat mode. Also some minor cleanup in the smp flush code and remove some outdated debug code. Requires patch to move cpu_possible_map setup earlier. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
