Adds a newer videobuf-vmalloc module. This module uses the same videobuf controls, but implements memory allocation based on vmalloc methods. PCI-dependent videobuf_foo methods were renamed as videobuf_pci_foo. Also, videobuf_dmabuf is now part of videobuf-dma-sg private struct. So, to access it, a subroutine call is needed. This patch renames all occurences of those function calls to be consistent with the video-buf split. Break tuner.ko into separate modules. This was a quick change - Tuner sub-drivers are still static-linked to tuner.ko, this will change after using dvb_attach and removing the probing functions. This patch adds an internal ioctl-like interface which can be used in situations where a single Video4Linux device is implemented by multiple device drivers. One master device controls one or more slave devices. The slaves provide Video4Linux ioctl-like interface for the use of the master. Only a handful of ioctls are implemented at the moment. The following doesn't make much sense: drivers/media/video/Kconfig: ... config TUNER_TEA5761 tristate "TEA 5761 radio tuner (EXPERIMENTAL)" ... drivers/media/video/Makefile: ... ifneq ($(CONFIG_TUNER_TEA5761),) tuner-objs += tea5761.o endif ... With this setup, TUNER_TEA5761=m is equivalent to TUNER_TEA5761=y. This patch therefore changes TUNER_TEA5761 to a bool. The missing dependency on EXPERIMENTAL the prompt text indicates also gets added by this patch. Additionally, the Makefile entry can now be written in a more compact way. It took three core maintainers, over four years of work, eight new i2c modules, eleven new V4L2 ioctls, three new DVB video ioctls, a Sliced VBI API, a new MPEG encoder API, an enhanced DVB video MPEG decoding API, major YUV/OSD contributions from Ian and John, web/wiki/svn/trac support from Axel Thimm, (hardware) support from Hauppauge, support and assistance from the v4l-dvb people and the many, many users of ivtv to finally make it possible to merge this driver into the kernel. 2007-02-21V4L/DVB (5166): Remove obsolete alias defines of CONFIG_* settingsTrent Piepho
The out of tree v4l-dvb build system didn't always override the kernel's configuration settings with v4l-dvb's settings correctly. To work around this, makefiles would define some new macro based on the setting of a config variable. e.g. the pwc Makefile would define CONFIG_PWC_DEBUG if CONFIG_USB_PWC_DEBUG (which is defined via Kconfig) was set. The v4l-dvb build system should now always override correctly, and this is no longer necessary. This patch gets ride of these extra defines and just uses the CONFIG_* settings directly. The VIDEO_ZR36120 driver has: - already been marked as BROKEN in 2.6.0 three years ago and - is still marked as BROKEN. Drivers that had been marked as BROKEN for such a long time seem to be unlikely to be revived in the forseeable future. But if anyone wants to ever revive this driver, the code is still present in the older kernel releases. Implement V4L2 driver for the Hauppauge PVR USB2 TV tuner. The Hauppauge PVR USB2 is a USB connected TV tuner with an embedded cx23416 hardware MPEG2 encoder. There are two major variants of this device; this driver handles both. Any V4L2 application which understands MPEG2 video stream data should be able to work with this device. Most uses a tda988[5/6/7] IF demodulator as part of the device. Having this as a separate stuff makes harder to configure it, since there are some tda9887 options that are tuner-dependent and should be bound into tuner-types structures. V4L1 API is depreciated and should be removed soon from kernel. This patch adds two new options, one to disable V4L1 drivers, and another to disable V4L1 compat module. This fixes some uneeded rebuilds under drivers/media/video after moving the source tree. The makefiles used $(src) and $(srctree) for include paths, which is unnecessary. Changed to use relative paths. Compile tested, produces byte-identical code to the previous makefiles. Because of historic reasons, there are two separate directories with V4L stuff. Most drivers are located at driver/media/video. However, some code for USB Webcams were inserted under drivers/usb/media. This makes difficult for module authors to know were things should be. Also, makes Kconfig menu confusing for normal users. This patch moves all V4L content under drivers/usb/media to drivers/media/video, and fixes Kconfig/Makefile entries.
