2009-12-05V4L/DVB (13130): soc-camera: add a new driver for the RJ54N1CB0C camera ↵Guennadi Liakhovetski
sensor from Sharp This adds an soc-camera / v4l2-subdev driver for the RJ54N1CB0C CMOS camera sensor from Sharp. The sensor is very picky about initialisation and configuration sequences. The driver limits artificially maximum window size by 800x600, although the sensor supports 1600x1200. Sizes above 800x600 don't seem to work correctly, besides, examples from the system integrator use sizes above 640x480 only for still photography. Unfortunately, I had to use "magic" register-value pairs for undocumented and "reserved" registers. 2009-06-16V4L/DVB (11967): v4l: i2c modules must be linked before the v4l2 driversHans Verkuil
Since i2c autoprobing is no longer supported by v4l2 we need to make sure that the i2c modules are linked before the v4l2 modules. The v4l2 modules now rely on the presence of the i2c modules, so these must have initialized themselves before the v4l2 modules. The exception is the ir-kbd-i2c module, which is the only one still using autoprobing. This one should be loaded at the end of the v4l2 module. Loading it earlier actually causes problems with tveeprom. Once ir-kbd-i2c is no longer autoprobing, then it has to move up as well. This is only an issue when everything is compiled into the kernel. With the transition of soc-camera to become a platform driver and to the v4l2-subdev framework the initialisation order becomes important. In case of a static build clients (i2c) drivers have to be available when host drivers are probed. Moving host drivers down in the Makefile achieves the desired order. 2009-03-30V4L/DVB (11096): V4L2 Driver for the Hauppauge HD PVR usb capture deviceJanne Grunau
The device encodes component video up to 1080i to a MPEG-TS stream with H.264 video and stereo AAC audio. Newer firmwares accept also AC3 (up to 5.1) audio over optical SPDIF without reencoding. Firmware upgrade is unimplemeted but rather unimportant since the firmware sits on a flash chip. The I2C adapter to drive the integrated infrared receiver/sender is currently disabled due to a conflict with cx18-based devices. Rather then spending effort on converting this driver to V4L2, and since it is extremely unlikely that anyone still uses one of these devices, it was decided to drop it (after discussing this as well with the original author, Phil Blundell). Old driver for the dpc7146 demonstration board that is no longer relevant. The last time this was tested on actual hardware was probably around 2002. Since this is a driver for a demonstration board the decision was made (after discussing this with the original author, Michael Hunold) to remove it rather than spending a lot of effort continually updating this driver to stay in sync with the latest internal V4L2 or I2C API. If saa7134_init is run before v4l2_i2c_drv_init (tuner), then saa7134_board_init2 will try to set the tuner type for devices that don't exist yet. This moves tuner to before all of the device-specific drivers so that it's loaded early enough on boot. 2008-07-23V4L/DVB (8427): videodev: split off the ioctl handling into v4l2-ioctl.cHans Verkuil
videodev.c became top-heavy so all the ioctl processing has been split off into v4l2-ioctl.c. This means videodev.c is back to its original purpose: creating and registering v4l devices. Since videodev.c and v4l2-ioctl.c should still remain one module (as least for now) I also had to rename videodev.c to v4l2-dev.c to prevent a circular dependency when building a videodev.ko module. This is not a bad thing, since the source and header now have the same name. And the v4l2- prefix is useful to see which sources are generic v4l2 support code. The CEU hardware block is configured in a transparent data fetch mode, frames are captured from the attached camera and written to physically contiguous memory buffers provided by the newly added videobuf-dma-contig queue. Tested on sh7722 and sh7723 processors. 2008-07-20V4L/DVB (8341): videobuf: Add physically contiguous queue code V3Magnus Damm
This is V3 of the physically contiguous videobuf queues patch. Useful for hardware such as the SuperH Mobile CEU which doesn't support scatter gatter bus mastering. Since it may be difficult to allocate large chunks of physically contiguous memory after some uptime due to fragmentation, this code allocates memory using dma_alloc_coherent(). Architectures supporting dma_declare_coherent_memory() can easily avoid fragmentation issues by using dma_declare_coherent_memory() to force dma_alloc_coherent() to allocate from a certain pre-allocated memory area. 2008-04-24V4L/DVB (7535): saa717x: add new audio/video decoder i2c driverHans Verkuil
Added the last remaining out-of-tree kernel driver from the ivtv project. The saa717x is used in several Japanese cards and a Russian card. The driver is not complete in that only NTSC is supported and no PAL/SECAM. Hopefully this will be added in the future. This patch adds a driver for the Quick Capture Interface on the PXA270. It is based on the original driver from Intel, but has been re-worked multiple times since then, now it also supports the V4L2 API. This patch depends on a complementary patch, submitted to the ARM tree, providing PXA270 camera platform bindings.
