2009-12-05V4L/DVB (13238): v4l2_subdev: rename tuner s_standby operation to core s_powerLaurent Pinchart
Upcoming I2C v4l2_subdev drivers need a way to control the subdevice power state from the core. This use case is already partially covered by the tuner s_standby operation, but no way to explicitly come back from the standby state is available. Rename the tuner s_standby operation to core s_power, and fix tuner drivers accordingly. The tuner core will call s_power(0) instead of s_standby(). No explicit call to s_power(1) is required for tuners as they are supposed to wake up from standby automatically. A power management fix to properly put the xc5000 into low power mode revealed a race condition where hald could detect the creation of the device file and connect to the device while the initial device configuration is still in progress. Lock the core structure so that video_release cannot be called and put the tuner to sleep in the middle of the initial call to cx88_set_tvnorm() in cx8800_initdev() Thanks to Michael Krufky for discovering the issue and providing an environment to test in. The v4l2 core code in v4l2_ioctl will zero out the structure the driver is supposed to fill in for read-only ioctls. For read/write ioctls, all the fields which aren't supplied from userspace will be zeroed out. Zeroing code is removed from enum_input and g_tuner. instead of ID. Since the i2c driver ID will be removed in the near future we have to modify the v4l2 debugging API to use the driver name instead of driver ID. Note that this API is not used in applications other than v4l2-dbg.cpp as it is for debugging and testing only. Should anyone use the old VIDIOC_G_CHIP_IDENT, then this will be logged with a warning that it is deprecated and will be removed in 2.6.30. Introduce a struct v4l2_file_operations for v4l2 drivers. Remove the unnecessary inode argument. Move compat32 handling (and llseek) into the v4l2-dev core: this is now handled in the v4l2 core and no longer in the drivers themselves. Note that this changeset reverts an earlier patch that changed the return type of__video_ioctl2 from int to long. This change will be reinstated later in a much improved version. 2008-10-21V4L/DVB (9327): v4l: use video_device.num instead of minor in video%dHans Verkuil
The kernel number of a v4l2 node (e.g. videoX, radioX or vbiX) is now independent of the minor number. So instead of using the minor field of the video_device struct one has to use the num field: this always contains the kernel number of the device node. I forgot about this when I did the v4l2 core change, so this patch converts all drivers that use it in one go. Luckily the change is trivial. This adds I2S-ADC tvaudio mode as a formal method of audio delivery. This fixes one bug and adds fm audio via I2S-ADC on cards that support it. The bug occured before when I2S-ADC mode was initiated on composite/s-video open but was then reset within 500ms by the audio thread which used any previous audio tuning details. An enabled chroma AGC will not degrade picture quality if enabled on a color PAL or NTSC signal with nominal signal levels. It will give a significant color reproduction improvement if the chroma signals diverge from nominal levels. Therefore enable chroma AGC by default for PAL and NTSC standards. All cx2388 boards need the line-in audio to be routed from an external ADC (refered to as "ADC mode" in the spec sheet), since the chip is uncapable of dealing with baseband audio directly. So... this patch enables normal mode when using the tuner (TV or Radio), and enables ADC mode with any other source. Fix lack of audio on the MPEG-2 stream of wm8775 based blackbirds. The wm8775 module initializes the audio input at "route 2", which doesn't hold true for all boards. The HVR-1300, for example, uses route 1 for tuner audio, and route 2 for baseband. So we must route the audio to the proper input depending on what video input is being used. struct video_device used to define a .hardware field. While initialized on severl drivers, this field is never used inside V4L. However, drivers using it need to include the old V4L1 header.
