2009-03-26[S390] tape message cleanupCarsten Otte
This is a cleanup of all the messages this driver prints. It uses the dev_message macros now. Signed-off-by: Carsten Otte <cotte@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2008-08-21[S390] drivers/s390: Use an IS_ERR test rather than a NULL testJulien Brunel
In case of error, functions dasd_kmalloc_request and idal_buffer_alloc return an ERR pointer, but never return the NULL pointer. So after a call to one of these functions, a NULL test should be replaced by an IS_ERR test. A simplified version of the semantic patch that makes this change is as follows: (http://www.emn.fr/x-info/coccinelle/) // <smpl> @correct_null_test@ expression x,E; statement S1, S2; @@ x = ( dasd_kmalloc_request(...) | idal_buffer_alloc(...) ) <... when != x = E if ( ( - x@p2 != NULL + ! IS_ERR ( x ) | - x@p2 == NULL + IS_ERR( x ) ) ) S1 else S2 ...> ? x = E; // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julien Brunel <brunel@diku.dk> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>

2008-04-17[S390] tape: duplicate sysfs filename when setting tape device onlineMichael Holzheu
When a tape device is set online, offline and online again, the following error message is printed on the console: "sysfs: duplicate filename 'non-rewinding' can not be created". The reason is that when setting a device online, the tape driver creates a sysfs symlink from the tape device to the tape class device. Unfortunately the symlink is not removed correctly, when the device is set offline. Instead of passing the tape device object to sysfs_remove_link, the class device object is used. This patch fixes this problem and uses the correct tape device object now. 2007-02-12[PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 5Arjan van de Ven
Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. 2007-02-05[S390] Add crypto support for 3592 tape devicesMichael Holzheu
3592 tape devices are able to write data encrpyted on tape mediums. This z/Linux device driver support includes the following functions: * ioctl to switch on/off encryption * ioctl to query encryption status of drive * ioctls to set and query key encrypting keys (kekls) * long busy interrupt handling Signed-off-by: Michael Holzheu <holzheu@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
