Allow gadget drivers to omit the unbind() method. When they're
statically linked, that's an appropriate memory saving tweak.
Similarly, provide consistent/simpler handling for a should-not-happen
error case: removing a peripheral controller driver when a gadget
driver is still loaded. Such code dates back to early versions of the
first implementation of the gadget API, and has never been triggered.
Includes relevant section annotation fixs for gmidi.c, file_storage.c,
and serial.c; we don't yet have an "init or exit" annotation. Also
some whitespace fixes in gmidi.c (space at EOL, before tabs, etc).

Maintain a per-CPU global "struct pt_regs *" variable which can be used instead
of passing regs around manually through all ~1800 interrupt handlers in the
Linux kernel.
The regs pointer is used in few places, but it potentially costs both stack
space and code to pass it around. On the FRV arch, removing the regs parameter
from all the genirq function results in a 20% speed up of the IRQ exit path
(ie: from leaving timer_interrupt() to leaving do_IRQ()).
Where appropriate, an arch may override the generic storage facility and do
something different with the variable. On FRV, for instance, the address is
maintained in GR28 at all times inside the kernel as part of general exception
handling.
Having looked over the code, it appears that the parameter may be handed down
through up to twenty or so layers of functions. Consider a USB character
device attached to a USB hub, attached to a USB controller that posts its
interrupts through a cascaded auxiliary interrupt controller. A character
device driver may want to pass regs to the sysrq handler through the input
layer which adds another few layers of parameter passing.
I've build this code with allyesconfig for x86_64 and i386. I've runtested the
main part of the code on FRV and i386, though I can't test most of the drivers.
I've also done partial conversion for powerpc and MIPS - these at least compile
with minimal configurations.
This will affect all archs. Mostly the changes should be relatively easy.
Take do_IRQ(), store the regs pointer at the beginning, saving the old one:
struct pt_regs *old_regs = set_irq_regs(regs);
And put the old one back at the end:
set_irq_regs(old_regs);
Don't pass regs through to generic_handle_irq() or __do_IRQ().
In timer_interrupt(), this sort of change will be necessary:
- update_process_times(user_mode(regs));
- profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING, regs);
+ update_process_times(user_mode(get_irq_regs()));
+ profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING);
I'd like to move update_process_times()'s use of get_irq_regs() into itself,
except that i386, alone of the archs, uses something other than user_mode().
Some notes on the interrupt handling in the drivers:
(*) input_dev() is now gone entirely. The regs pointer is no longer stored in
the input_dev struct.
(*) finish_unlinks() in drivers/usb/host/ohci-q.c needs checking. It does
something different depending on whether it's been supplied with a regs
pointer or not.
(*) Various IRQ handler function pointers have been moved to type
irq_handler_t.

This updates the PXA 25x UDC board-independent infrastructure for VBUS sensing
and the D+ pullup. The original code evolved from rather bizarre support on
Intel's "Lubbock" reference hardware, so that on more sensible hardware it
doesn't work as well as it could/should.
The change is just to teach the UDC driver how to use built-in PXA GPIO pins
directly. This reduces the amount of board-specfic object code needed, and
enables the use of a VBUS sensing IRQ on boards (like Gumstix) that have one.
With VBUS sensing, the UDC is unclocked until a host is actually connected.

This patch adds IXP465 into the list of known devices and
adds IXP425 and IXP465 to the list of devices that have cfr. This
is not described in the hardware documentation, but without
it driver won't work.
Workaround (#if 1) that seemed to get rid of lost
status irqs is disabled for IXP4XX as it caused freezes
during testing of control messages. No lost irqs are
visible on IXP4XX.
Driver survived tests running over night without any
visible problems.

this patch converts drivers/usb to kzalloc usage.
Compile tested with allyes config.
I think there was a bug in drivers/usb/gadget/inode.c because
it used sizeof(*data) for the kmalloc() and sizeof(data) for
the memset(), since sizeof(data) just returns the size for a pointer.

This patch removes almost all inclusions of linux/version.h. The 3
#defines are unused in most of the touched files.
A few drivers use the simple KERNEL_VERSION(a,b,c) macro, which is
unfortunatly in linux/version.h.
There are also lots of #ifdef for long obsolete kernels, this was not
touched. In a few places, the linux/version.h include was move to where
the LINUX_VERSION_CODE was used.
quilt vi `find * -type f -name "*.[ch]"|xargs grep -El '(UTS_RELEASE|LINUX_VERSION_CODE|KERNEL_VERSION|linux/version.h)'|grep -Ev '(/(boot|coda|drm)/|~$)'`

In PM v1, all devices were called at SUSPEND_DISABLE level. Then
all devices were called at SUSPEND_SAVE_STATE level, and finally
SUSPEND_POWER_DOWN level. However, with PM v2, to maintain
compatibility for platform devices, I arranged for the PM v2
suspend/resume callbacks to call the old PM v1 suspend/resume
callbacks three times with each level in order so that existing
drivers continued to work.
Since this is obsolete infrastructure which is no longer necessary,
we can remove it. Here's an (untested) patch to do exactly that.

register defined in pxa-regs.h
Patch from Ian Campbell
The sparse warning initially surfaced in sound/arm/pxa2xx-ac97.c
because it was using u32 * variables to hold the unsigned long *
register addresses.
I submitted an ALSA patch for this http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.alsa.devel/27804 issue and it was suggested that it might be preferable to change the register
definitions to use u32.
Most other subarches seem to use u32 for their register type, at least
the ones which use a __REG macro (like the PXA) do. Nico indicated in
the thread above that he wouldn't mind this patch.
Changing the type required fixes for opposite warnings in the pxa2xx usb
gadget code but that was the only new warning introduced on defconfig
or lubbock, mainstone and our own PXA255 boards.

This has several small updates to the px2xx UDC driver:
* small fixes from Eugeny S. Mints <emints@ru.mvista.com>
- local_irq_save() around potential endpoint disable race
- fix handling of enqueue to OUT endpoints (potential oops)
* add shutdown() method to disable any D+ pullup
* rename methods accessing raw signals, referencing the signals
* describes itself as for "pxa25x", since pxa27x is different

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.
Let it rip!
