Common resources, like memory accounting and swap lists should be
global and not per device. Introduce a struct ttm_bo_global to
accomodate this, and register it with sysfs. Add a small sysfs interface
to return the number of active buffer objects.

Use inclusive zones to simplify accounting and its sysfs representation.
Use DMA32 accounting where applicable.
Add a sysfs interface to make the heuristically determined limits
readable and configurable.

Export utility functions for drivers to add specialized devices in the
sysfs drm class subdirectory.
Initially this will be needed form TTM to add a virtual device that
handles power management.

Now that we're using the scaling property in the Intel driver I noticed
that the names were a bit confusing. I've corrected them according to
our discussion on IRC and the mailing list, though I've left out
potential new additions for a new scaling property with an integer (or
two) for the scaling factor. None of the drivers implement that today,
but if someone wants to do it, I think it could be done with the
addition of a single new type and a new property to describe the
scaling factor in the X and Y directions.

The existing TV connector types are often unsuitable either because
there is no way to probe them until they're actually plugged in or
because they can change during run time (e.g. 7-pin DIN connectors
that behave as S-Video, Component, Composite or SCART depending on the
adaptor plugged in).

Define some helper functions to make easier to detach a KMS encoder
implementation from the drm module of the GPU it's used in. This is
mainly useful for some external I2C encoders known to be present on
cards with GPUs from several different manufacturers.

Two macro definitions of DRM_DEBUG_KMS/MODE can be used to add the debug
info related with KMS. It is confusing.
So remove the macro definition of DRM_DEBUG_MODE. Instead it can be replaced
by the DRM_DEBUG_KMS.

We will have to add a prefix when using the macro defintion of DRM_DEBUG_KMS
/DRM_DEBUG_DRIVER/MODE. It is not convenient. We should use the DRM_NAME
as default prefix.
So remove the prefix in the macro definition of DRM_DEBUG_KMS/DRIVER/MODE.

Create the standard timing modeline by using CVT/GFT algorithm while
interpreting the EDID.
In course of interpreting the EDID, the timing level will be obtained,
which is used to determine whether the CVT/GTF algorithm is selected to
generate the modeline for the given hdisplay/vdisplay/vrefresh_rate.
In the UMS mode firstly it will check whether it can be found in
the DMT table. If it can be found, then the modeline is returned. Then the
timing_level is used to choose CVT/GTF.
As there is no DMT table, no modeline is returned when timing level
is DMT. For the other two timing levels, the CVT/GTF will be called to
generate the required standard timing modeline.

generate the required modeline.
I copied it from the file of xserver/hw/xfree86/modes/xf86gtf.c. What I have
done is to translate it by using integer calculation. This is to avoid
the float-point calculation in kernel space.
At the same tie I also refer to the function of fb_get_mode in
drivers/video/fbmon.c

spin_unlock_irq() will enable interrupt in net_send_packet(),
this patch changes it to spin_lock_irqsave/spin_lock_irqrestore,
so that it doesn't enable interrupts when already disabled,
and netconsole would work properly over cs89x0/isa-skeleton.

The issue was, that the locking code in mkiss was assuming it was only
ever being called in process or bh context. Fixed by converting the
involved locking code to use irq-safe locks.
Review of other networking line disciplines shows that 6pack, both sync
and async PPP and STRIP have similar issues. The ppp_async one is the
most interesting one as it sorts out half of the issue as far back as

This patch (as1262) fixes a bug in usbfs: It refuses to accept
zero-length transfers, and it insists that the buffer pointer be valid
even if there is no data being transferred.
The patch also consolidates a bunch of repetitive access_ok() checks
into a single check, which incidentally fixes the lack of such a check
for Isochronous URBs.

This patch (as1259b) makes ehci-hcd return the total number of bytes
transferred in urb->actual_length for Isochronous transfers.
Until now, the actual_length value was unaccountably left at 0.

This patch (as1264) removes a bunch of unnecessary and erroneous stuff
from the option USB-serial driver. Clearly there's no need to verify
that the device pointer stored in the URBs is right or to store the
same pointer over again. After all, the pointer can't change once it
has been set up.
There's also no need to call usb_clear_halt for the IN endpoint
multiple times -- in fact, doing so is an error since every time after
the first there will be active URBs queued for that endpoint. Since
the Clear-Halts don't appear to be needed at all, the patch simply
removes them.

This patch (as1265) removes an erroneous call to usb_clear_halt from
the cypress_m8 driver. The call isn't valid because it is made from
interrupt context whereas usb_clear_halt is a blocking routine.
Presumably the code has never been executed; if it did it would cause
an oops. So instead treat -EPIPE like any other sort of unexplained
error.

commit b7af0bb ("USB: allow malformed LANGID descriptors") broke support
for devices without string descriptor support.
Reporting string descriptors is optional to USB devices, and a device
lets us know it can't deal with strings by responding to the LANGID
request with a STALL token.
The kernel handled that correctly before b7af0bb came in, but failed
hard if the LANGID was reported but broken. More than that, if a device
was not able to provide string descriptors, the LANGID was retrieved
over and over again at each string read request.
This patch changes the behaviour so that
a) the LANGID is only queried once
b) devices which can't handle string requests are not asked again
c) devices with malformed LANGID values have a sane fallback to 0x0409

This patch (as1263) fixes a mixup that occurred when conflicting
patches for the sierra driver were merged incorrectly. The former
sierra_shutdown routine should have been become sierra_release, not
sierra_disconnect.
The symptom this fixes is an oops when the device file is closed after
a Sierra device has been unplugged (Bugzilla #13675).

Add A-Link 3GU device id 1e0e:9200 into option driver. The device
has 4 interfaces, of which 1 is handled by storage and the other 3
by option driver.
The device appears first as CD-only 1e0e:f000 device and must be
switched to 1e0e:9200 mode either by using "eject CD" or
usb_modeswitch.
For the record, the device does not work with generic usbserial
driver (usb disconnect when sending the ATDT command).

Commit 32ebbe7b6ad44ae9c276419710b56de6ba705303 which filters the
SCSI REZERO command in option_ms based on a SCSI INQUIRY with a vendor
of Option breaks my Option Icon 225 (0af0:6971). This device returns a
vendor of ZCOPTION for the ZeroCD device. The following trivial patch
fixes things for me.
