2009-10-30bond: Get the rtnl_link_ops support correctEric W. Biederman
- Don't call rtnl_link_unregister if rtnl_link_register fails - Set .priv_size so we aren't stomping on uninitialized memory when we use netdev_priv, on bond devices created with ip link add type bond. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@aristanetworks.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-10-30bond: Add support for multiple network namespacesEric W. Biederman

2009-10-30bond: Implement a basic set of rtnl link opsEric W. Biederman
This implements a basic set of rtnl link ops and takes advantage of the fact that rtnl_link_unregister kills all of the surviving devices to all us to kill bond_free_all. A module alias is added so ip link add can pull in the bonding module. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@aristanetworks.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-10-30bond: Simplify bond device destructionEric W. Biederman
Manually inline the code from bond_deinit to bond_uninit. bond_uninit is the only caller and it is short. Move the call of bond_release_all from the netdev notifier into bond_uninit. The call site is effectively the same and performing the call explicitly allows all the paths for destroying a bonding device to behave the same way. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@aristanetworks.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-10-30bond: Simplify bond_create.Eric W. Biederman
Stop calling dev_get_by_name to see if the bond device already exists. register_netdevice already does that. Stop calling bond_deinit if register_netdevice fails as bond_uninit is guaranteed to be called if bond_init succeeds. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@aristanetworks.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-10-30bond: Simply bond sysfs group creationEric W. Biederman
This patch delegates the work of creating the sysfs groups to the netdev layer and ultimately to the device layer. This closes races between uevents. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@aristanetworks.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-10-30veth: Fix veth_dellink methodEric Dumazet
In commit 23289a37e2b127dfc4de1313fba15bb4c9f0cd5b (net: add a list_head parameter to dellink() method), I forgot to actually use this parameter in veth_dellink. I remember feeling a bit uncomfortable about veth_close(), because it does : netif_carrier_off(dev); netif_carrier_off(priv->peer); Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-10-29convert kaweth to use usb_reset_configuration()Oliver Neukum
For USB 3.0 it is necessary that all drivers use the standard API to reset a configuration. This removes a home-grown implementation. 2009-10-29sfc: Feed GRO result into RX allocation policy and interrupt moderationBen Hutchings
When GRO is successfully merging received packets, we should allocate raw page buffers rather than skbs that will be discarded by GRO. Otherwise, we should allocate skbs. GRO also benefits from higher interrupt moderation, so increase the score for mergeable RX packets. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2009-10-29gigaset: fix bad assumptions about CAPI skbuffsTilman Schmidt
The CAPI interface incorrectly assumed that CAPI messages would always start at the beginning of the data buffer: fix by treating DATA_B3 messages as the link layer header to their payload data. This fix changes the way acknowledgement information is propagated through the hardware specific modules and thereby impacts the ISDN4Linux variant of the driver, too. Also some assumptions about methods not being called from interrupt context turned out to be unwarranted; fix by using dev_kfree_skb_any() wherever non-interrupt context isn't guaranteed. Impact: bugfix Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-10-29gigaset: fix format string typo in CAPI dial commandTilman Schmidt

2009-10-29netdev: usb: dm9601.c can drive a device not supported yet, add support for itJanusz Krzysztofik
I found that the current version of drivers/net/usb/dm9601.c can be used to successfully drive a low-power, low-cost network adapter with USB ID 0a46:9000, based on a DM9000E chipset. As no device with this ID is yet present in the kernel, I have created a patch that adds support for the device to the dm9601 driver. Created and tested against linux-2.6.32-rc5. 2009-10-28bonding: fix a race condition in calls to slave MII ioctlsJiri Bohac
In mii monitor mode, bond_check_dev_link() calls the the ioctl handler of slave devices. It stores the ndo_do_ioctl function pointer to a static (!) ioctl variable and later uses it to call the handler with the IOCTL macro. If another thread executes bond_check_dev_link() at the same time (even with a different bond, which none of the locks prevent), a race condition occurs. If the two racing slaves have different drivers, this may result in one driver's ioctl handler being called with a pointer to a net_device controlled with a different driver, resulting in unpredictable breakage. Unless I am overlooking something, the "static" must be a copy'n'paste error (?). Signed-off-by: Jiri Bohac <jbohac@suse.cz> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2009-10-28e100: Fix to allow systems with FW based cards to resume from STDDavid Graham
Devices with loadable firmware must have their firmware reloaded after the system resumes from sleep, but the request_firmare() API is not available at this point in the resume flow because tasks are not yet running, and the system will hang if it is called. Work around this issue by only calling request_firmware() for a device's first firmware load, and cache a copy of the pointer to the firmware blob for that device, so that we may reload firmware images even during resume. 2009-10-28virtio-net: fix data corruption with OOMMichael S. Tsirkin
virtio net used to unlink skbs from send queues on error, but ever since 48925e372f04f5e35fec6269127c62b2c71ab794 we do not do this. This causes guest data corruption and crashes with vhost since net core can requeue the skb or free it without it being taken off the list. This patch fixes this by queueing the skb after successful transmit. Signed-off-by: Michael S. Tsirkin <mst@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au> Signed-off-by: David S. 2009-10-28via-velocity: Remove private device listBen Hutchings
