The Intel 7300 Memory Controller supports dynamic throttling of memory which can be used to save power when system is idle. This driver does the memory throttling when all CPUs are idle on such a system. Refer to "Intel 7300 Memory Controller Hub (MCH)" datasheet for the config space description. 2008-10-18ACPI: Ingore the RESET_REG_SUP bit when using ACPI reset mechanismZhao Yakui
According to ACPI 3.0, FADT.flags.RESET_REG_SUP indicates whether the ACPI reboot mechanism is supported. However, some boxes have this bit clear, have a valid ACPI_RESET_REG & RESET_VALUE, and ACPI reboot is the only mechanism that works for them after S3. This suggests that other operating systems may not be checking the RESET_REG_SUP bit, and are using other means to decide whether to use the ACPI reboot mechanism or not. Here we stop checking RESET_REG_SUP. Instead, When acpi reboot is requested, only the reset_register is checked. 2008-10-17ACPI: Ignore AE_NOT_FOUND error of EC _REG method and continue to initialize ECZhao Yakui
On some broken BIOS the ACPI object in EC _REG method can't be found in ACPI namespace, which causes that the status code of AE_NOT_FOUND is returned by the EC _REG object. In such case the EC device can't be initialized correctly, which causes that battery/AC adapter can't work normally. As the EC address space handler is not removed and the memory pointed by its input argument is already free, sometimes the kernel will also be panic when EC internal register is still accessed. But the windows can work well on such broken BIOS. Maybe it will be reasonable that OS ignores the AE_NOT_FOUND error returned by the EC _REG object and continues to initialize EC device on some broken BIOS. cpuidle accounts the idle time for the C-state it was trying to enter and not to the actual state that the driver eventually entered. The driver may select a different state than the one chosen by cpuidle due to constraints like bus-mastering, etc. Change the time acounting code to look at the dev->last_state after returning from target_state->enter(). Driver can modify dev->last_state internally, inside the enter routine to reflect the actual C-state entered. 2008-10-10fujitsu-laptop: better handling of P8010 hotkeyJonathan Woithe
This patch (mostly from Peter Gruber) improves the handling of the hotkeys for P8010 laptops by passing more accurate input events back to userspace. This is needed because the P8010 labels these buttons quite differently to earlier laptops. As part of this, a P8010-specific DMI callback check has been implemented. Finally there's some minor whitespace cleanups from running the source through Lindent. 2008-10-10ACPI: fix FADT parsingJan Beulich
The (1.0 inherited) separate length fields in the FADT are byte granular. Further, PM1a/b may have distinct lengths (if using the v2 fields was okay) and may live in distinct address spaces. acpi_tb_convert_fadt() should account for all of these conditions. Apart from these changes I'm puzzled by the fact that, not just for acpi_gbl_xpm1{a,b}_enable, acpi_hw_low_level_{read,write}() get an explicit size passed rather than using the size found in the passed GAS. What happens on a platform that defines PM1{a,b} wider than 16 bits? Of course, acpi_hw_low_level_{read,write}() at present are entirely un-prepared to deal with sizes other than 8, 16, or 32, not to speak of a non-zero bit_offset or access_width... On the Shuttle SN68PT, FAN_CTL2 is apparently not connected to a fan, but to something else. One user has reported instant system power-off when changing the PWM2 duty cycle, so we disable it. I use the board name string as the trigger in case the same board is ever used in other systems. According to the ACPI-WMI spec, event blocks may provide a function call for enabling/disabling them. This patch adds support for making these calls when registering or removing notifications. Without this, my Dell firmware provides no data in the event notification. 2008-10-08acer-wmi: Add rfkill support for wireless and bluetoothCarlos Corbacho
This patch implements rfkill support for the wireless and bluetooth devices commonly found on Acer laptops. For now, we will always poll these devices once a second to guarantee we can catch state changes. On newer Acer laptops, it may be possible to rely on WMI events to do this instead, and experimental support for this will be added in a later patch. 3G has been deliberately left off for now, as we still have no way to detect it, (nor, AFAIK, has any Linux user tried the code) and on laptops that don't support 3G, trying to poll for the status will leave the logs full of ACPI tracebacks. The old sysfs interface for wireless and bluetooth will be removed in a later patch. (Thanks to Henrique de Moraes Holschuh and Dmitry Torokhov for reviewing this patch). 2008-10-06atmel-mci: Initialize BLKR before sending data transfer commandHaavard Skinnemoen
The atmel-mci driver sometimes fails data transfers like this: mmcblk0: error -5 transferring data end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 2749769 end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 2749777 It turns out that this might be caused by the BLKR register (which contains the block size and the number of blocks being transfered) being initialized too late. This patch moves the initialization of BLKR so that it contains the correct value before the block transfer command is sent. This error is difficult to reproduce, but if you insert a long delay (mdelay(10) or thereabouts) between the calls to atmci_start_command() and atmci_submit_data(), all transfers seem to fail without this patch, while I haven't seen any failures with this patch. The Swarm IDE driver uses a release method which is defined in the driver itself thus potentially oopsable. The simple fix would be to just leak the device but this patch goes the full length and moves the entire handling of the platform device in the platform code and retains only the platform driver code in drivers/ide/mips/swarm.c. 2008-10-05ide-dma: fix ide_build_dmatable() for TRM290Sergei Shtylylov
Apparently, 'xcount' being 0 does not mean 0 bytes for TRM290; it means 4 bytes, judging from the code immediately preceding this check. So, we must never try to "split" the PRD for TRM290. This is probably never hit anyway -- with the DMA buffers aligned to at least 512 bytes and ATAPI DMA not being used for non block I/O commands... First byte 0xa1 instead of 0xcc INFO: Allocated in uvc_query_v4l2_ctrl+0x3c/0x239 [uvcvideo] age=13 cpu=1 pid=4975 ... A fixed size 8-byte buffer is allocated, and a variable size field is read into it; there is no particular bound on the size of the field (it is dependent on hardware and configuration) and it can overflow [also verified by inserting printk's.] The patch attempts to size the buffer to the correctly. Different backends have different input busses (saa7146, flexcop). To reflect that a config-option to the s5h1420-driver was added which makes the output mode selectable. Furthermore the s5h1420-driver is now doing the same i2c-method as it was done before adding support for other i2c-users. The functions dvb_dmxdev_section_callback, dvb_dmxdev_ts_callback, dvb_dmx_swfilter_packet, dvb_dmx_swfilter_packets, dvb_dmx_swfilter and dvb_dmx_swfilter_204 may be called from both interrupt and process context. Therefore they need to be protected by spin_lock_irqsave() instead of spin_lock(). This fixes a deadlock discovered by lockdep.
