2007-11-26[ARM] 4650/1: AT91: New-style init of I2C, support for i2c-gpioAndrew Victor
The AT91 I2C driver is currently marked as "broken" due to hardware issues. This patch enables AT91-based platforms to also use the bitbanged GPIO for I2C. This updates platform setup logic (setting up an i2c-gpio device using the same pins as the i2c-at91 device, unless only the BROKEN driver is enabled). Also make use of the new-style initialization of I2C devices using i2c_register_board_info(). The AT91x40 family doesn't have the debug unit like its bigger brothers. But it does have the ID and extension registers (with the bit meanings the same). Reorganize at91_dbgu.h to cater for this. This also affects the load uncompressor, since it outputs to the debug port. 2007-05-09Use common cpu_is_xxx() macros on AT91 and AVR32Haavard Skinnemoen
Several drivers shared between AT91 and AVR32 chips use cpu_is_xxx() to handle CPU-specific differences. Currently, such code needs to be inside #ifdef CONFIG_ARCH_AT91 because the macros don't exist on AVR32. By defining the same macros on both AT91 and AVR32, these #ifdefs can be eliminated. Since the macros will evaluate to a constant value for CPUs that aren't supported by the current architecture, any code that is only needed on AT91 will be optimized away on AVR32 and vice versa. 2007-03-16[PATCH] gpio_direction_output() needs an initial valueDavid Brownell
It's been pointed out that output GPIOs should have an initial value, to avoid signal glitching ... among other things, it can be some time before a driver is ready. This patch corrects that oversight, fixing - documentation - platforms supporting the GPIO interface - users of that call (just one for now, others are pending) There's only one user of this call for now since most platforms are still using non-generic GPIO setup code, which in most cases already couples the initial value with its "set output mode" request. Note that most platforms are clear about the hardware letting the output value be set before the pin direction is changed, but the s3c241x docs are vague on that topic ... so those chips might not avoid the glitches. The Atmel AT91 and AVR32 processor architectures share many of the same peripherals. The PDC (Peripheral Data Controller) registers are also implemented within in a number of the on-chip peripherals (eg, USART, MMC, SPI, SSC, etc). In a attempt not to duplicate the register definitions in each peripheral, or in each architecture, the at91_pdc.h header in asm-arm/arch-at91 and asm-avr32/arch-at32ap has been replaced with linux/atmel_pdc.h. The definitions have also been renamed from AT91_PDC_* to ATMEL_PDC_*, and the drivers updated accordingly. Original patch from Nicolas Ferre. The Atmel AT91SAM9263 processor includes many more integrated peripherals than Atmel's previous ARM9-based AT91 processors, so this has necessitated a few changes to the core AT91 support. These changes are: * The system peripheral I/O region we remap has increased from 0xFFFA0000..0xFFFFFFFF to 0xFFF78000..0xFFFFFFFF. * The increased I/O region forces changes to entry-macro.S and debug-macro.S due to ARM's limited immediate offset addressing modes. * Maximum number of GPIO banks increases to 5. * 2 MMC controllers so the board-setup code needs to specify which controller it wishes to use when calling at91_add_device_mmc().
