2007-07-26amd64: fix get_user() on bitwiseAl Viro
We really need force-cast when converting to final result type; unsigned long can be silently converted to integer types and to pointers, but not to bitwise. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2007-03-14[PATCH] kill bogus casts in amd64 uaccess.hAl Viro

2007-02-13[PATCH] x86-64: Add __copy_from_user_nocacheAndi Kleen
This does user copies in fs write() into the page cache with write combining. This pushes the destination out of the CPU's cache, but allows higher bandwidth in some case. The theory is that the page cache data is usually not touched by the CPU again and it's better to not pollute the cache with it. Also it is a little faster. Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de>
2007-02-11[PATCH] fix sparse warnings from {asm,net}/checksum.hTilman Schmidt
Rename the variable "sum" in the __range_ok macros to avoid name collisions causing lots of "symbol shadows an earlier one" warnings by sparse. 2007-01-25[PATCH] x86_64: fix put_user for 64-bit constantRoland McGrath
On x86-64, a put_user call using a 64-bit pointer and a constant value that is > 0xffffffff will produce code that doesn't assemble. This patch fixes the asm construct to use the Z constraint for 32-bit constants. Signed-off-by: Roland McGrath <roland@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2006-09-30[PATCH] Add proper sparse __user casts to __copy_to_user_inatomicAndi Kleen
Noticed by Al Viro Cc: viro@ftp.linux.org.uk Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de>
2006-09-26[PATCH] Fix some stylistic issues in uaccess.hAndi Kleen
- Replace some broken white space. - Replace __ keywords with standard names No functional changes. Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de>
2006-09-26[PATCH] Add __must_check to copy_*_userAndi Kleen
Following i386. And also fix the two occurrences that caused warnings in arch/x86_64/* Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de>
2006-09-26[PATCH] Fix zeroing on exception in copy_*_userAndi Kleen
- Don't zero for __copy_from_user_inatomic following i386. This will prevent spurious zeros for parallel file system writers when one does a exception - The string instruction version didn't zero the output on exception. Oops. Also I cleaned up the code a bit while I was at it and added a minor optimization to the string instruction path. Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de>

2006-01-14[PATCH] mark several functions __always_inlineIngo Molnar
Arjan van de Ven <arjan@infradead.org> Mark a number of functions as 'must inline'. The functions affected by this patch need to be inlined because they use knowledge that their arguments are constant so that most of the function optimizes away. At this point this patch does not change behavior, it's for documentation only (and for future patches in the inline series) Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Signed-off-by: Arjan van de Ven <arjan@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2006-01-11[PATCH] x86_64: Display meaningful part of filename during BUG()Jan Beulich
When building in a separate objtree, file names produced by BUG() & Co. can get fairly long; printing only the first 50 characters may thus result in (almost) no useful information. The following change makes it so that rather the last 50 characters of the filename get printed. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
