Transmit silently fails on this misconfiguration. After this patch, AL2230S devices are rejected with an error message, to avoid any confusion with an apparent driver bug. CR157 patching was slightly incorrect in that the vendor driver only patches in an 8-bit value, whereas we were patching 24 bits. This behaviorviolates regulatory rules everywhere in the world except Japan.
